| 09/29/06 The New Testament only reaffirms exactly what is predicted in the old and assures us of salvation through Christ, and Christ alone. John 3:16 and John 6: 47 assures us that all we have to do is believe. Act 16:31 says your salvation will extend to your family. John 1: 9 says that al we have to do is confess our sins. Hebrews 9: 28 says that Christ paid the whole price for our salvation and Romans 10: 9 - 10 says all we must do is confess Christ as our Savior. And what did they do? At the crucifixion, some apostles denied Him, most disciples ran for their lives, huddled together in fear. Others returned to their previous lives as fishermen. When Christ cried out “It is finished!”, they missed the point. You’d think they would have figured it out. There’s a lot in life I haven’t figured out. All I have to do is pick up a flier from Circuit City and I realize I have no idea what they are trying to sell. I’m similarly flabbergasted by mega pixels, genetic engineering and cybernetics. But there is one thing I fully understand, the significance of Easter. Please feel free to come visit and worship Christ, the risen Messiah at Blake’s Chapel Advent Christian Church. The Advent Christian Church sprang out of the 'Adventual Awakening' of the middle nineteenth century. The Mendota church has been an active part of the community for over 110 years. When the church was purchased in 1892 the Wartburg Seminary was also aquired, which became the Mendota College. The Mendota College later moved to Aurora, Illinois and became known as the Aurrora College. The church was built in 1857 by the Evangelical Lutheran Synod and was used by the Lutherans until 1892 at which time it was purchased by the Western Advent Christian Publishing Association. In 1894 The Mendota Advent Christian Church bought the church and property from the Western Advent Christian Publishing Association. We are a Bible believing church that accepts at face value the New Testament truths that life, abundant and fulfilling in quality and eternal in quantity is available for every person only through the Lord of Life, Jesus Christ. The Advent Christian church is located in large and small communities throughout the United States and Canada. We have many churches in Japan, the Phillipines, China, India, Mexico, South Africa and Africa. We are growing overseas. |
