Bows and Arrows?
by Dan Legotti
02/07/2008 -
The church is described in the scriptures as the Body of Christ (Rom.12: 4). In effect, it is the sum total of a congregation’s hearts. To keep the body (the church) healthy, it has to be one, united and basted in love - the love that comes from God, for God is love (1John8: 16). A healthy heart is a heart where Christ dwells (Eph.3: 7) and therefore love should abound. The same is true for the heart of the church. A strong church is a heart healthy church.
For God, who commanded the Light to show out of darkness, shines in our hearts to give light to the knowledge of the Glory of God. (2Cor. 4: 2).
May the Lord make you increase in love, one toward another, and toward all men, To that end, He may establish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God. (1Thes.3:12 - 13).
Valentines? Cupid? Arrows? I don’t know. I do know that we at Blake’s Chapel Advent Christian Church wish you and your family a heart healthy day willed with love. Forget the bows, forget the arrows, but just in case, don’t forget the roses.

History of the Church
Blake's Chapel was first organized on June 30, 1912 in the home of Bob
Chadwick. The first preaching was done by Elder G.W. Shepard of Middle
Sound. Elder J.B. Williams was elected as first paster and served the congregation
for approximately three years. The church first used the old Vista school
as a meeting place until 1914 at which time a small church was erected
on a lot near Mike's Branch. The land was given by Mr. and Mrs. Peter Blake.
In 1920 the name of the church was changed from the Advent Christian Church at Woodside to Blake's Chapel Advent Christian Church in honor of those who gave the 1/2 acre of land and worked so faithfully in the building of the church. Over 8 acres of land have subsequently been purchased. read more
